Join us in the inner-city of Atlanta for a hands-on experience working with the poor and homeless. Build relationships while meeting the needs of the poor and learning practical skills you can take back to your home community.
- ONE-DAY MISSION TRIP
We plan a full day of manual labor at a place of mission, where you will serve the homeless. Our staff will provide the supplies for ministry and all the details. You arrange your meals at nearby food courts or bring food to make your meals where we do ministry. Cost for the one-day trip is $125 total for your group.
- OVERNIGHT MISSION TRIP
Pick your best 24 hours for an unforgettable mission trip and night of ministry on the streets of Atlanta. We plan a full schedule of ministry with the advantage of the nightlife in Atlanta. You will experience events with the homeless and manual labor at nearby shelters. Our staff guides you each step of the way. You will be responsible for your own meals and lodging. We can make suggestions for lodging at a local church or inner city hotel. Cost for the overnight trip is $250 total for your group.
- WEEKEND MISSION TRIP
Pick a weekend your group can come on Friday night and leave Sunday after lunch. Be involved in our weekend ministries feeding the homeless and caring for the poor. Experience a full weekend of activity including a one-day work project at a nearby shelter. Our staff will be with you for the whole weekend guiding you each step of the way. You will be responsible for your own meals and lodging. We can make suggestions for lodging at a local church or inner city hotel. Cost for the weekend trip is $600 total for your group. (We can do an all inclusive weekend trip for you for additional cost.)
- WEEK-LONG MISSION TRIP
A week of service will change your life! Each day is packed full of ministry, training and reflection. Each day balances manual labor with lots of personal touch in the lives of people who make the "streets" home. Your week-long program begins Monday night at 8 p.m. and concludes on Saturday morning. Please eat dinner before your group arrives. Cost for the week is $200 per person plus a $2000 ministry fee. This is inclusive of all meals and housing while serving with Church on the Street. The only thing you will need to supply is daily reliable transportation to and from ministry sites. Due to the intensity of the week all participants must be of high school age or older. Our staff will be with you for the entire week assisting your group to have an experience of a lifetime. Your non-refundable deposit of $500 will secure your place on the calendar. The remaining money will be due upon arrival. Note: We suggest you ask your mission board to pay for the ministry fee, which covers food and supplies for the homeless.
- SPECIAL WEEK-LONG MISSION TRIP (SPRING BREAK)
Come as a group of one or a hundred to Impact Atlanta. Youth groups are welcome! (Individuals without a "group" must be at least 18 years old.) Impact Atlanta is a week-long experience that is designed to change your life and the lives of others. Come on Monday night at 8 p.m. and your week concludes on Saturday at 8 a.m. Please eat dinner before your group arrives. The cost of Impact Atlanta is $250 per person. This includes all food and housing while serving with Church On The Street. Bring your friends, bring a group or come by yourself! The only need you have while working with Church On The Street is reliable transportation or money for city transit. Your non-refundable deposit of $100 will secure your place on the calendar. The remaining money will be due upon arrival.
GROUP HOUSING WHILE SERVING WITH CHURCH ON THE STREET
Church on the Street ministry teams are currently housed in local hotels. We prefer to place five people per room if possible. If you request a separate room you can do so in writing, and pay the extra room costs. It is important that 30 days before your mission trip, you provide Church on the Street with a room list. The number you give us 30 days before your trip will be the number you will be charged for your trip. Church On The Street will make all the arrangements for the hotel room. You will need bedding for the fifth person in the hotel room or to give your counselor a bed of his/her own (two people must be comfortable on the floor). Extra towels, toiletries, shampoo and soap are suggested. Remember, this is a mission trip!
Possible Ministry Opportunities While Serving With Church On The Street
On any given day we may do one or many ministry events. Depending on the supplies on hand, the experiences we encounter may vary. Please be flexible in this area. God will use us in many different situations.
Day Camps
We may go to housing projects and facilitate Bible Day Camps. This will include crafts, Bible lessons, games, songs and snacks.
Soup Kitchen
We may participate in a soup kitchen. We will pass out food while being active in the service with testimonies and singing.
Clothing Distribution
You are encouraged to bring large quantities of clothing to pass out on the street or in the housing projects. Whatever you collect we will pass out personally to the people. Please make sure the clothes are clean and in reasonable order:
· pants
· socks
· underwear
· T-shirts
· blankets
· toiletries
Clean-Up
We will go to areas of town that need to be cleaned up. We will pick up garbage from areas that children play in and families are trying to restore order in. We will provide pliers to pick up used drug needles and items we do not want to pick up with our hands. While cleaning up we will have opportunities to socialize and develop relationships with the people.
Paint and Repair
We may paint and repair homes of the elderly and poor. Many times we may not know from day to day what needs arise in this area, so are prepared to minister when the opportunity comes. If your group specifically wants to do this type of work, it can be arranged ahead of time. You will need to provide paint brushes and rollers.
Goody Bags
We will make sandwiches and goody bags full of surprises to pass out on the streets late at night. It is a great time to sit and talk with the people. Your group supplies the items for the goody bags which may include; candy, soaps, hand lotion, toiletry items, pocket Bibles, etc.
Ministry Teams
We may spend several nights doing an outdoor worship service on the streets. We will train your group how to share their faith and lead someone to a relationship with Christ. If your group can sing or is already prepared in some sort of "performing arts" that would work in an outdoor service, please let us know.
Networking
We partner with many different ministries, services and churches in Atlanta to help serve the poor and homeless. We may work with one or several of these groups while you are here with us.
